Unusual House with Outdoor Pool in Foggy Neighborhood

It’s rare to see a home with a private pool in San Francisco, but when we do it’s usually in the sunnier southeastern neighborhoods. So a house in the Inner Sunset with a pool caught the neighborhood’s attention not just because of its long, skinny lap pool but also because the house is at the foggy side of the Inner Sunset neighborhood.

The site is at 1478 12th Ave, a 1909 modest 2-bedroom, 1-bath with moldings and a large level garden, not too long ago in 2003.

The lot was ‘RH-2 zoned’ and the owners who bought the property saw the potential to expand and in over the course of 3 years, they had transformed the place into an unrecognizable 3-story, 2-condo with a total of 6-bedrooms and 5 bathrooms in over 3,800 square feet. The house now has a lap pool, a patio and outdoor fireplace.

They had built 2 condos, one on top of the other, and both units were designed similarly with the same location of bedrooms, master bedrooms and en suite bathrooms, although the lower condo has a bonus family room with high ceilings, a wet bar, and access to the yard and lap pool.

The house does seem out of place among its neighbors:

And the price tag also jaw-dropping at over $3 Million – roughly about 3 times over the median price tag in the area.
