Golden State Warriors Head Coach Pays Big Bucks for Presidio Heights Home
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and his wife, Margot, had purchased a home with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Presidio in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood, according to public records.
And the Kerr’s had paid $7.35 million – about 25% more than the original asking price of $5.799 million. A hefty overbid no doubt in preparation for the Golden State Warriors’ move to Mission Bay.
“I bought a house in San Francisco and I’m going to have to coach for another 20 years to afford that house,” Kerr joked of needing a contract extension earlier this year, according to The Athletic.
According to Zillow estimates, Kerr will be paying nearly $355,000 a year on his monthly mortgage payments. His annual salary is reported to be $5 million a year.
The house is a 3-story home that dates to the 1920s and has 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a fireplace in the living room, and a formal dining room that opens onto a patio. It is roughly 4,000 square foot in size.
Kerr recently signed a contract extension with the team that reportedly makes him one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA. He has earned his stripes having led the team to four-straight NBA Finals appearances and three NBA Championships. He is currently the third coach in NBA history to win three titles in the first four seasons with a team, and he has the highest winning percentage in postseason history (63-20, .759) according to Elias Sports Bureau.
