Infamous Mitchell Brothers O’Farrell Theater Building For Sale
Mitchell Brothers O’Farrell Theater, the adult entertainment establishment on the edge of San Francisco’s Tenderloin is currently quietly for sale.
The establishment was opened by brothers Jim and Artie Mitchell.
It remains one of America’s oldest and notorious adult-entertainment establishments since July 4, 1969, helping make Tenderloin look really seedy.
Today, the business remains. However, the building is more discreet.
Jim and Artie Mitchell have passed away, and Jane Mitchell Johnson is now the heiress and co-owner of the establishment.
The building at 895 O’Farrell Street is indeed out on the market for sale without a set price. It is also available for lease for anyone who can afford $39,000 a month.
It is on a 9,600-square-foot parcel on the Southeast corner of Polk Street, and is zoned for development up to 130 feet in height and does not currently appear to be encumbered by any existing long-term lease.
Built in 1969, it has not been designated as a historic resource. Not yet, at least.
